The field of informatics is in high demand across various industries. Virtually every sector relies on technology and information systems. This is why studying Informatics (or Computer Science, as it is often referred to) can be a valuable choice for undergraduates.
The programme offered by Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) is one of the best bachelors in Informatics because it provides a teaching curriculum that gives students strong fundamentals of the discipline: software design and architecture, modelling and analysis of complex systems, the theory of the latest technologies, and the development of system thinking.
As it is essential to practise programming, theoretical lectures are complemented by fairly complex projects. In their daily laboratory activities, students have a chance to apply concepts and principles acquired during regular lectures, testing their soundness and learning to design and programme from day one.
Furthermore, the Faculty is an internationally recognised centre of research and teaching in advanced informatics; and it promotes synergies with the programmes of the Institutes of Technology in Zurich, Lausanne, and Milan, with which it already enjoys a fruitful partnership.
Studying at USI
Kyla came from California to Lugano to study Informatics in the Bachelor's programme at USI. Her first impression was one of awe, both at the beauty of the place and at the international atmosphere that pervades USI’s walls. At first, she didn’t know anyone, but she quickly managed to make many friends. "I really appreciated how approachable and available the professors were for any need," she said.
