The programme offered by Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) is one of the best bachelors in Informatics because it provides a teaching curriculum that gives students strong fundamentals of the discipline: software design and architecture, modelling and analysis of complex systems, the theory of the latest technologies, and the development of system thinking.

As it is essential to practise programming, theoretical lectures are complemented by fairly complex projects. In their daily laboratory activities, students have a chance to apply concepts and principles acquired during regular lectures, testing their soundness and learning to design and programme from day one.

Informatics has always fascinated me. I chose USI because of its very modern study curricula, focusing on the application of theory, thanks to the various groups project you have to realize and present. this approach allows the so-called soft skills to be developed, which today are very important for professionals. I also very much liked the international flair of the university and the fact that all courses are given in English.

USI's campus in Lugano

The USI campus in Lugano is a modern and dynamic environment dedicated to higher education and research. Situated in the eastern part of Lugano, it offers innovative and functional architecture, modern classrooms, equipped laboratories, libraries, and green spaces. It is an ideal place for study and research, fostering collaboration and student well-being.

Where we are

The Faculty of Informatics is located in the East Campus of the Università della Svizzera italiana. The exact address is via La Santa 1, Lugano (Switzerland).

The Campus has a number of shared spaces, a multi-purpose hall, an exhibition space, a canteen, a crèche and sports areas. It hosts around 600 members of staff, 1,000 students on the basic programme and 800 students in continuing education.

You can reach the university from Lugano train station in 9 minutes by taking bus number 6 in the direction of Cornaredo and getting off at the "Campus Universitario" stop (you can find the bus schedule here).
