On May 10, 2025, during UniVerso – an event organized by USI Università della Svizzera italiana for the community – the artist Yuri Catania will unveil a large participatory art piece dedicated to USI.
The artwork will be created using the paste-up technique and will consist of a spectacular composition of black-and-white faces – the faces of those who live USI every day: students, faculty, academic staff, and collaborators – intertwined with colourful flowers, symbolizing the different Faculties of the University.
A powerful visual mosaic that will tell the identity and energy of the USI community.
The creation of the artwork will begin in mid-April under the Cube ("Il Cubo") at West Campus and will culminate on May 10, 2025, with its inauguration.
To make this artwork possible, we need everyone's contribution!
Anyone interested can actively participate in the cutting activities and help the artist with gluing the photographs and flowers that will make up the artwork: a unique opportunity to get to the heart of Yuri Catania’s creative process and leave a tangible mark in the city.
No experience needed, just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.
It’s an invitation to share an experience, create, and build together an artwork that tells the story of our university.
